Gatekeeper Killed At Scarsdale Crossing
The death of Geo W Knowles, longtime gateman at Garths crossing, shocks Scarsdale. Born March 29 1833, he lived with his son Allison after his wife died and faced tragedy when Allison was killed on his train. He routinely walked the track to the crossing and depot, but Friday night icy conditions led to a fatal misstep on the left hand track.
