The Scarsdale Town Club accepted a record 64 new members at a Board of Governors meeting led by President Charles E. Heming. About a quarter have long Scarsdale residence, with diverse sponsors and many eligible by six months of residency. applications available via the club office or membership committee.
Edgemont High School hosts a February 9 panel in the auditorium at 8 p.m. on whether local school tax financing should shift to regional or state control. Speakers include Paul Davidoff, Alan Britton, Sheldon Elsen, and John MacKenty.
The County Board of Legislators voted 12 to 3 to authorize the Law Department to seek an injunction against the City of New Rochelle and Starner property owners on Weaver Street. A county permit from Public Works is required for ingress and egress on a county road under Section 239-k. Audry Hochberg urged rapid action, noting intolerable Weaver Street traffic and opposition from local planning bodies.
The Scarsdale Teachers Institute will run a seven Tuesday afternoon course at Scarsdale High School in February and March on Recent Developments in College Curriculum. Franklyn G. Myers and David Narot lead with guest speakers from Hampshire Brown University UMass and others. Registration costs and guidelines are described for parents and teachers.
Scarsdale Family Counseling Service announces a new six session series for women titled And What About Me led by Mrs. Carol Felt. Responding to demand after the first group completed six sessions, the new group starts Monday January 24 from 1 15 to 2 45 pm with ongoing option. Fee is 20 dollars. For information call SC 3328.
The Special Committee of The Town Club releases a progress report on commuter transport in Scarsdale. It cites Village Board actions with Penn Central on station renovations and calls for federal district court approval of MTA takeover plans, plus safety, ventilation, and off peak travel concerns.

The Village Club will nominate Mrs Edwin de Lima as president at the annual meeting on April 3. Mrs Bernard Atwood completes her second term as president. The nominating committee also plans several other officers and directors for one and two year terms.
At a January 11 Q and A session for Scarsdale Concerned Democrats youths, Walter Liebman of Citizens For Muskie spoke of growing Muskie groups in Westchester. He urged citizen involvement and volunteer support in the coming primary, saying the year offers meaningful work for all.
