Scarsdale adopts Common Battery telephony change
The January 20 date marks the New York Telephone Company’s switch from Magneto to Common Battery in Scarsdale, eliminating crank-operated access and centralizing to a single Battery switchboard. The transfer from Lee Avenue to a new Post Road building will be led by E. H. Rogers Jr., finalizing over a year of work and about $33,000 in costs. The cutover will be rapid, reducing party line code ringing and improving service accuracy.
