The proposition for incorporating Starsdale as a Village will be put before qualified voters of this Town at an early date by Supervisor Crane. The village limits will match the current town boundaries and a Village Board of Trustees and president will be elected, serving without pay, with no extra administrative costs.
Lillian Williams, a maid at William J. Griffin’s home, pleaded guilty to grand larceny for stealing jewelry. She hid the loot in a White Plains cellar after planning to leave for White Plains. She was sent to Bedford Reformatory. two men initially detained were released for lack of evidence.
The first large wedding at the new Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary solemnized Sunday at 3 pm uniting Miss Giovanna Maria Bracalello of Scarsdale Avenue North End and George V Briante of White Plains. Attendants included Rose Briante maid of honor and bridesmaids Mary Bracalello and Anna Bracalello. Best man Carlos Bambace ushers Eldo Montesi. The Briante Construction Co. of White Plains is involved. groom to head to State Agricultural School project. Engagement of Rose Briante to Eldor Montesi announced. Gifts included a silver set.
Scarsdale police aided by Mount Vernon officers nabbed Charles Helde of Williamsbridge on a charge linked to a scare incident involving a local girl. The pursuit began when Helde followed the victim from Mount Vernon to Scarsdale, triggering screams and neighbors’ help before Helde was identified and returned to Scarsdale. Helde, ~27, has a wife and three children. He was arraigned before Judge Mercer and held for the Grand Jury.
One hundred thirty-nine liens against Merritt Construction Company state highway work were signed and filed by Supreme Court Justice Tompkins. Workers on Highways Nos. 5,223 and 5,234 claimed amounts from 4 to 15 dollars. The liens, set to expire soon, are extended six months to allow affairs to be straightened.
Mr and Mrs John E Powers have expanded holdings on Greenacres Avenue in the Scarsdale Estates area purchasing a 35 by 187 foot strip adjoining their south side from Mrs Bellett of Prospect Park White Plains. McJunken a noted New chemist has bought his Greenacres residence and four plots for lawn improvements expanding his property substantially. He plans to enclose much of the yard creating a large English half timbered home cresting the hill. He is active in the Engine Club and the Massachusetts Poly Club in Manhattan.
Mrs. Alfred Stone announces the marriage of her daughter Edith Fay Bates Stone to Mr. Alfred Stone of Bronxville. The couple will reside on Putnam Avenue Soundview Heights White Plains.
Mrs. Arthur Livermore will host four class talks on Suffrage starting Friday at 9 30 A M in the Studio Arcade B Ville. The free sessions run on ensuing Fridays and aim to persuade and convert during the great campaign year with emphasis on suffrage advocacy.
The board urged increasing the retirement fund allocation from 3000 to 9000 dollars this year arguing rising needs and noting last year’s contribution reached 9185.58.
