At the January 2 1903 town board session J R Ross's $40 Assessor bill was approved after review. F M Thompson’s $2 legal fee was referred to Highway Commissioner Simpson. O A Hyatt's $192 75 for Saxon Wood Road survey was approved. Swartwout sought extending the Scarsdale Water Company franchise to cover the town with plans for water mains funded by future expansion. The board expressed support but sought more details before voting. Charles Griffen’s Assessor resignation was accepted. a Feb meeting will elect a successor. A special meeting is set for January 18.

Narrow Escape on New Year Eve Near Scarsdale Station
Mrs. Stark wife of Scarsdale liveryman narrowly escaped death when alighting from a New Year Eve train at Scarsdale station. She fell between cars as the up train began to move missing most of the wheels by inches. Her nine year old nephew Alfred Fitzpatrick summoned help. She suffered a hip bruise and severe shock but recovered to sleep after two nights of fright.
New Year’s Eve Surprise at Dudley Allen’s Home
Mr Dudley Allen of Hartsdale woke to a New Year party hosted at his home with many friends sheltering inside. Music from New York, dancing, a midnight feast, and songs lit the evening as a quartet sang to Astor House friends via telephone.
