The Westchester Board of Supervisors unanimously approved an experimental plan to restrict Saxon Woods to county residents when it opens this spring. The Park Commission proposed the experiment and also urged a second Saxon Woods course on the 850 acre tract with a pool. recommendations for Dunwoodie Golf Club purchase as a fifth course were referred for study.

Polio Victim Receives Escort To Massachusetts Unit
Joel M. Silverman of Scarsdale Manor Apartments, a 38 year old polio patient in an iron lung, was transported by ambulance with nursing support to the Mary MacArthur Memorial Respirator Unit in Wellesley Hills Massachusetts for further treatment. Westchester Chapter of the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis arranged the transfer with state police escorts from the Connecticut line to the Massachusetts line. The goal is to reduce respirator dependence and aid rehabilitation with new therapy.

Needy children from New York City and the metropolitan area will visit Scarsdale homes next summer under the Scarsdale White Plains Friendly Town Committee of the Herald Tribune Fresh Air Fund formed at Wayside Cottage. Mrs. Erling G. Nelson welcomed guests and praised the Junior League for lending Wayside, with Mrs. John H. Hearne, Mrs. Nelson and Mrs. Willard Pleuthner sharing stories of past placements. Frederick H. Lewis recalled the Fund history from 1877 to 1954, while Miss Dorothy Meigs Bigelow urged volunteer service as the key to Americanism through two week visits. Patty Schwartzman, two and a half, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Schwartzman, contracted polio on Oct 22, 1964. She recovers in Grasslands Hospital’s physical therapy room and plans to return home to Wilmot Circle with sisters Joanne Toni and Karen, showing a brave spirit and gradual improvement.
