District One Board of Education will hold a Monday 8:15 PM hearing in the High School teachers dining room to hear parents’ views on noon hour arrangements. The January hearing follows a June decision lengthening noon recess by 15 minutes to allow at home lunches, with staff noting benefits for children and teachers.
Scarsdale organizes the Mothers March for Jan 31 to support the March of Dimes polio program. Local mothers, polio survivors, and families will light porch lights to welcome volunteers and raise funds for research vaccines and infantile paralysis care. Area captains include Mrs. Talbot Babcock and Mrs. Paul Lazarus among others with Henry B. Schindler as treasurer.
The sixth annual Talent Show to raise funds for the Boy Scout camping program invites entrants with a Jan. 27 deadline announced by William L. Foley recreation superintendent. First auditions Jan. 28 at 10 30 am in the high school music tower. The event is Feb. 13 at 7 30 pm in the high school auditorium. Tickets are sold by local Scout troops.
The Westchester County Heart Association appoints Mrs Louis D Fletcher Jr of Rutland Road as Scarsdale chairman for the February fund drive.

The County Chapter presents a Red Cross orientation lecture on Tuesday at 10 in the chapter house 106 N Broadway White Plains. The program includes the overall Red Cross film lineup Flag of Humanity a Clara Barton story and It Can Be You a film about volunteers. Mrs Ernest L Colegrove directs the lecture as vice chairman in charge of volunteer education.
Dr Benjamin Fine education editor of the New York Times will address the Quaker Ridge Schools PTA at Weaver St School on Tuesday evening. The talk covers major American education issues raised by the White House Conference and aims to inform and stimulate constructive discussion. The public is invited to attend.
John F. Cline of Brewster Rad appeared at the Village Board meeting to back a request that a Naval Reserve Unit be allowed to hold its meeting in the Fenimore Rd Firehouse. He presented a petition from Volunteer Fire Co. 2 in support. The mayor said the request remains pending before the Fire Commissioner and the public property committee and will be referred with additional information.
Local Board 10 in Mt. Vernon inducted Joseph P. Gulla of 50 Hutchinson Blvd and Stephen H. Rich of 84 Oxford Rd on January 9 into the armed services, listing their addresses.
The 26th Edgemont Ice Carnival is scheduled for Saturday January 21 at Crane's Pond starting at two. Organized by the Edgemont Ass'n the event features races for all ages with medals for top finishers. A sound truck will relay morning announcements and officials will oversee awards and refreshments.

Edwin Strawbridge Children's Theatre presents Toby Tyler with Mr Stubbs the monkey and Ella the Bareback Rider in a Scarsdale High School performance tomorrow at 2 30. Louis Kennel designed the authentic circus setting and William Tracy creates animal costumes for Ringling Bros. Parade.
The Scarsdale High School Senior Dramatics Club plans a February 10 and 11 presentation of Stalag 17 in the high school auditorium. An all male cast under John Hemmerly rehearses with student directors Michael Weiner Stephen Klineberg and William Stott. The World War II prisoner camp comedy follows prisoners protecting Dunbar and spotting a possible German stool pigeon. Tickets are available from club members or the high school office.
Principal Oliver W. Melchior announced four Scarsdale High School juniors as 1956 American Field Service candidates. The winners join applicants from 500 plus schools for U S A F S appointments to live abroad with host families. The four are Judy Bonnet Peter Eisenberg Linda Ogilvy and George Wilson.
Foundation directors Mrs. Kenneth M. Bevier Leonard Marx and Spencer Scott were reelected for six year terms at the electors meeting held January 4 at the Village Hall Annex.
Women of the Scarsdale Democratic Club organize a dessert bridge and potluck for new residents of Scarsdale at the Scarsdale Woman’s Club on Friday February 3 at 1 PM. Final plans were set at a coffee gathering at Mrs. O. O. Bottorff’s Autenrieth Road home. Co chairmen are Mrs. Bottorff and Mrs. A. J. Dirksen with committee members Mrs. M. S. Enthusiasm runs high for a 100 dollar ticket Salute to President Eisenhower at Madison Square Garden next Friday. Scarsdale leaders including Halliday Clark and Barry Leithead head county and state committees with new members joining the local nucleus. Secretary George M. Humphrey will speak as a telecast links the President to the audience, which will enjoy the Hollywood Ice Revue and massed singing groups.
A letter from Mrs. Lionel Kauf man of Elm Rd points out a traffic hazard at Brite Ave and Harcourt Rd. Mayor Willard P. Scott referred the matter Tuesday night at the Village Board meeting to the public safety committee.

The waste paper drive planned by the Scarsdale Post of the American Legion for last Sunday was postponed to Sunday January 22 at 1 pm. Residents should place tied waste paper on the curb for easy collection by Legionnaires and Boy Scouts assisting the drive.
The village board heard a detailed report from the recreation committee chaired by Ralph Keating and Willard B. Dean urging a 28 member Scarsdale Recreation Council. The panel would include civic group and PTSA reps, school officials, and ex officio members, acting only in advisory capacity with four annual meetings. The board may act at its Jan 24 meeting.

In a Tuesday night village board meeting Mayor Willard P. Scott referred a request from the Scarsdale Bus Co to discontinue eight tickets for a dollar and end late night train connections at 10 30 and 11 o clock, plus to permit bus exterior advertising, to the law and public service committees for study.

The village board held three public hearings Tuesday with only the zoning amendment about off site parking for a church drawing significant interest. Scarsdale Congregational Church representatives urged allowance of parking on Heathcote Road and on Post Road, while front-yard parking tied to Art Center plans drew mild controversy. The board voted not to adopt the advertised changes and scheduled a further hearing for February 14, omitting the front-yard parking proposal.
