Board of Health Hears Nuisance and Death Notices

Scarsdale District Awards 2.07 Acre Site for School

A special Scarsdale New York meeting filled with about 100 attendees elected James G. Cannon as chairman and endorsed the Site Committee report to purchase 2.07 acres at White Plains Road and Scarsdale Depot Road from Maurice and Eliza Popham for $6,000. The vote carried 45 yes to 1 no, with a plan to convene a separate session to authorize funds and begin construction. Col Crane was praised as a property holder who welcomed the committee’s approach. The meeting closed after unanimous agreement to proceed and adjourned.

White Plains Hospital Holds Annual Meeting at Grace Church

The White Plains Hospital Association held its annual meeting at Grace Church Parish House with presiding Mr Howard Willets. Dr H H Schmid reported 194 patients treated last year with 118 discharged cured and 14 deaths. Building plans include acquiring the Davis property on Peat Road, funded by an $18,000 building fund.

Scarsdale Nursing Association Organized

Yesterday afternoon two dozen ladies met at Mrs. C A Hyatt’s tower and organized the Scarsdale Nursing Association. Mrs O A Hyatt was named President and Mrs C W Montgomery Vice President. A Relief Committee led by J W Thayer and a Supply Committee led by Mrs Saml Woolverton were appointed. The group aims to compile a list of ready nurses for emergencies and may aid those unable to pay. A supply closet will stock emergency items for members at a nominal fee. Active and associate memberships are offered with annual dues of five dollars for gentlemen and associates.
