Mrs Burrell among fifteen dead in Paris DC-4 crash
Mrs Jane Wallis Burrell of 94 Old Army Road died in a Paris air crash Tuesday night. The 36 year old filled a role at the United States Embassy in Paris after earlier work with OSS in Washington London Paris and parts of Germany. Survived by her parents a brother and two sisters.

Scarsdale Adult School opens with large turnout despite snow
The Scarsdale Adult School began its spring term at Scarsdale High School with over 250 attendees. Due to many registering and storm delays, registration will be held again next Tuesday night January 13 from eight to ten. Classes run for nine weeks with courses in Spanish public speaking gardening woodworking metalworking rhythmic gym painting photography and current events. Ample parking is available after clearing the high school lot.

Sleet Storm Strains Scarsdale Snow Clearing Efforts
Scarsdale village crews and outside help extended snow removal after a sleet storm last Thursday night. About 2300 truckloads or 16 000 cubic yards of snow were dumped, with 1300 loads from business areas and 280 from Heathcote. Additional crews opened catch basins while plowing widened lanes and cleared ruts. costs remain undetermined.

Police commend Scarsdale force for snow rescue work
After a severe storm Scarsdale police received three letters of gratitude. Abraham Gevirtz thanked Chief Short Patrolman Calandro and Plow driver Malderi for rescuing his wife from a snowbound danger. Vernon H Parker praised Sergeants Jural and Patrolman Halse for transporting his family with care. A Philadelphia resident also commended Jural and Halse for helping him from the Scarsdale Diner to Heathcote Corner during a heart condition.

Oil Deliveries Resume After Westchester Fuel Dispute
Westchester customers of about 35,000 regained fuel supply as deliveries resumed after a two day strike over a closed shop dispute.
