In heavy rain on December 31, about eight hundred people waited hours to renew licenses at the White Plains automobile bureau. By noon, 48 000 licenses for pleasure cars had been issued, up from 41 791 last year, amid efforts by notaries and club members to speed the process.

Children's House Set to Open in March at Hitchcock Memorial Church

Rabies Case in Village Confirmed
A dog owned by William Dewey Loucks of Kelwyn road was confirmed rabid by a December 30 telegram from the State Laboratory at Albany to Village Health Officer Dr. Ralph R. Ryan. Tentative Westchester County Budget Planned for 1928
Frederick P. Close of Eastchester, chair of the budget committee, will likely present the 1928 county budget to the Board of Supervisors next week. Last year the budget totaled 5,003,842.18 with 3,683,265.02 for county purposes and 1,320,577.16 for State purposes. The State tax included 1,068,305.08 direct tax, 104,986.16 judicial tax, and 147,285.92 military tax. The 1928 budget is expected to be slightly higher than 1927.

Abandoned motorcycle found on Central Avenue
A motorcycle with a side-car was found abandoned on Central Avenue at 4:20 AM on New Year’s morning by Greenville police. The side-car held a suitcase, a shotgun, a small rifle, skates, skis, and two small packages. The next day the owner from New York explained he fled after colliding with a parked unlit truck. the mudguard wheel and frame were damaged.
