William G. Whyte of Highland Rd is named assistant director of public relations for U S Steel Chicago district. He will move from Scarsdale with Mrs. Whyte to assume the post. Whyte joined US Steel PR in 1946, later serving in New York under J Carlisle Mac Donald. He is a Chicago native and former Army colonel who served with Patton’s Third Army.

Phillips S. Trenbath of Overhill Road has been appointed assistant general counsel of the National Production Authority in Washington D C. A Trenton native, he studied in Montclair New Jersey and at Haverford College, Harvard Law School, and served in the Navy 1943 to 1945 with OSS. Det Edwin Meehan and Sgt John Donovan arrested Thom as J Mallon 34 of 5117 Torresdale Philadelphia on New Years Day at 1 pm on the Post Rd for driving with a license issue. He is held in County Jail White Plains after an alert for a deserter checked with New Jersey police. He served a year in jail in 194? on narcotic charges and was wanted for stealing money at the Atlantic City Track in Sept 1948.

In Scarsdale the Walters home at 22 Drake Rd won Class 1 for exterior lighting with the complete exterior picture. Hartman at 4 White Birch Ln took Class 2 first for a doorway, while Charles Pease at 16 Griffen Ave won Class 3 for a window feature.
