Village Loses Light For Fifteen Minutes New Year Eve
Parts of Scarsdale and all of White Plains Purchase Port Chester and part of New Rochelle were in darkness for about fifteen minutes around six o clock New Year Eve due to a failure in the lighting system. The outage was traced to the main trunk line from New Rochelle and service was restored after tapping the line near Elmsford.

Shonk Begins Sixth Term in New York Legislature
Herbert B. Shonk of Heathcote road leaves for Albany to resume his sixth term as State Assembly member. He attended a Republican policy conference and said he was in general accord with its policy. Shonk led in Scarsdale and previously held roles on aviation rules judiciary reapportionment and chaired the sub judiciary committee. He also chaired the World War veteran bloc which guided veterans legislation. Committee appointments for 1929 will be announced soon.

History of Central Office Gasps From Tiny Home to Big Exchange
The Scarsdale central office began July 11, 1900, in H. J. Graff’s Lee avenue home with one magneto board and nine subscribers. By 1904 it moved to a two position switchboard for seventy five subscribers, later expanding to 30 positions after 1912 as the company built a new bungalow style office and took over operations.

Car collision on Popham road injures two drivers
Frederick B. Van Kleeck of White Plains and Pierre Sauvin of Sherbrooke road collided on Popham road at Church lane last Friday morning. Van Kleeck slowed to turn left and Sauvin's car struck from the rear. Both cars had smashed fenders and Sauvin's steering gear was slightly damaged.

Two Small Fires Reported in Scarsdale Weekend
The tarpaulin of a Westchester Asbestos Company truck caught fire last Saturday afternoon in front of Fire House No. 1 but was quickly extinguished by chemicals. A grass fire on Weaver Street Saturday afternoon was the only other call for the Scarsdale Fire Company over the weekend.

Final 1928 Village Board Meeting Discusses Roads Trees and Park
