Whittemore to Receive The 1948 Scarsdale Bowl
Manuel Whittemore of 103 Greenacres Avenue will receive Scarsdale’s Arthur Boniface Scarsdale Bowl for outstanding community service. The 1948 award, announced by Bowl committee chair J. Lester Van Name, will be presented at a dinner date to be set. Whittemore has long served Scarsdale since 1924, including mayor from 1937 to 1939 and wartime town council roles.

Village Board Approves Penal Ordinance Amendments
At the village meeting in Village Hall on Tuesday night the board voted to adopt amendments to the Penal Ordinances. Reeves Newsom, village manager, reported on snow removal with three plows and three bulldozers at work and added that more equipment was due by Wednesday. He noted difficulty around stalled cars and a low rate of ex- ertion-related collapses, with no serious fires. Mayor Humphreys defended equipment levels given the heavy snowfall and praised the village’s performance. The board accepted the resignation of recreation director Marshall Laird and planned a resolution expressing gratitude for his work. Philip Donohue and John Hannon were appointed probationary patrolmen effective January 1.
