Firefighters arrived too late to save the Jake Miller pig barn opposite Kelley's blacksmith shop on Mamaroneck Road. The blaze, sparked in the early hours, destroyed the structure though three witnesses reported it promptly. The barn had housed pigs years ago and later stored hay, with prior odor complaints from Murray Hill neighbors.

First of Three Chamber Music Concerts For Youth

An extremely close clearance in the piston valve allowed a steel fragment to jam the piston and keep the horn blowing until the air supply ran dry.
