At a Nov 20 meeting held at Edgewood School the Arthur Manor Association voted to develop Davis Park as a park without equipment. They adopted a second resolution urging beautification including benches an oval area for skating space for winter activities and turf play areas while opposing the Village Board plan for playground equipment. The group submitted a May 23 1950 petition signed by 410 residents.

Former Scarsdale Mayor Lavis Dies at 79 in Phoenix
Former Scarsdale official Fred Lavis died at 79 in Phoenix on Nov 24 while visiting family. Lavis served as village trustee 1915–17, supervisor 1916–17, mayor 1931–33, and led the Town Club in 1924. He was a renowned consulting engineer with global rail and highway projects and authored several works on railway and transit planning. He was born in Torquay England and became a U.S. citizen in 1904.
