Kiltie Golf Day Set for Sept 8 at Scarsdale

The third annual Kiltie Day at Scarsdale Golf Club is planned for Thursday September 8 with entries closing September 1. The event honors Scotch golfing with a morning round, Lovat Pipe Band escort at the eighteenth hole, and a dinner with prizes awarded by golf committee chair A. M. Morris.

Shonk and Werner File Signatures for Races

Herbert B. Shonk of Scarsdale seeks re election to the State legislature from the second assembly district and George J. Werner seeks to succeed himself as commissioner of public welfare. The petitions were filed in White Plains with Ben Cook overseeing filings. Shonk has served since 1923 and helped draft the 48 hour work bill for women and minors.

Collision on Post Road injures two, fenders battered

A northbound car and a southbound car collided last Saturday near the Post and Mamaroneck roads intersection. A third car struck the wreckage before it could be cleared. No injuries beyond damaged fenders were reported.

Annual Playground Exhibit Highlights in Brook Waverly Main

The Brook Main and Waverly street playgrounds hosted an August 25 exhibition from 11 am to 3 pm with Mrs Harris MacNeish and others as examiners evaluating children’s handiwork. Two Minor Fires Reported With Small Damages

Two fires occurred this week per the department report. At 40 Chase Road Henry Ginnell’s residence saw a stove grease blaze. crews arrived to find the fire out. A near head on collision involving a fire department Reo truck and a Buick caused minor vehicle damage. A third blaze at 26 Overhill Road H S Connell’s home burned a small roof area from a chimney spark with estimated damage about 150 dollars.

New School Nurse Assistant Named for Scarsdale

Mrs Lola Van Der Zee of Syracuse New York will join Scarsdale schools September 6 to assist Mrs Morrison the school nurse for the first half year and take over her duties when Morrison begins a sabbatical in February Dr Ralph R Ryan medical examiner announced Van Der Zee will likely work at Edgewood school in the morning and at the high school in the afternoon and is a graduate of the Syracuse Memorial Training.
