State OKs Merger of Scarsdale National With Irving Trust
The State Banking Board on August 6 approved Charter New York Corp to acquire Scarsdale National Bank and Trust Company pending Federal Reserve Board approval. Charter New York, a holding company, has Irving Trust Co of New York as its major bank. Frank Wille said the merger would boost Westchester County banking service and competition despite potential future losses.

Court Upholds Starner On Weaver Street Shopping Center Plan
The New York State Supreme Court ruled that New Rochelle City's rezoning from commercial to office for Starner's Weaver Street property was unconstitutional. Justice McCullough found the city discriminated against Starner and allowed him to proceed with erecting stores near Five Corners after years of litigation and multiple court actions.

Robbery Suspect Released By Jury In Westchester Case
Grand Jury in Westchester County on August Sth 1969 dismissed charges of two armed robberies against Anthony Hammary 32 of Bronx. Hammary testified with immunity waiver as did his employer about his whereabouts during the alleged robberies. He had been arrested July 28 1969 for the robbery of Carolyn Jacobs at the Moore home Scarsdale. Jacobs identified a photo of Hammary and a gun was used to steal furs and jewelry.
