County Board Authorizes Mamari Neck Bond for Sewer System

White Plains August 0 The board of supervisors held a special meeting to authorize Mamari neck to issue bonds for completing its sewer system Chairman David Murden presided The committee on good roads reported on preparing a county map showing highways transit lines lakes and rivers to aid the transit commission and water committee The resolution empowered the county engineer to prepare the map with 500 lithographed copies for the board transit commission and water committee adoption followed

Claims of Ex Service Men to Be Settled

Ex service men with claims against the Government are urged to meet a Government cleanup squad. The team will be at 234 Huguenot Street, New Rochelle on August 15 and 16 and at 614 Court House, White Plains on August 17. They will investigate old claims, provide medical tests, and act on new claims on the spot.

Fire destroys livery stable in White Plains blaze

Early Wednesday morning a large fire swept the livery stable and garage of Deveson and Burke at 12 William Street White Plains destroying stalls harness carriages and sleighs with about 25 horses and 50 autos saved. Loss estimated at 50000 insured. Fire origin unknown. Firemen struggled with hydrant failure but Scarsdale engine helped contain the flames. An onlooker praised the Scarsdale Fire Co. for efficient work.
