Fair Opens With Lavish Additions At New Racetrack

Ground broken for new Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary

Ground breaking ceremony held on White Plains Road and Carmen Avenue for a new church to serve the parish. Reverend Father Wre and parish trustees led the event, with contractor and trabajo crews beginning excavation. The building will be field stone and stucco, 56 by 180 feet, seating 408, plus a 38 foot square rectory.

Third Marriage in Riley Home Reported

Miss Ida Elma Riley wed Wylie Gifford of New York Monday night in the Riley home on New York Post Drive. The ceremony was performed by Rev. James Harper of the Dutch Reformed Church of Scarsdale, with guests from Crestwood, New Rochelle, and nearby towns. Matron of honor William Cotter assisted as bride’s attendant, wearing a white satin dress trimmed with Valenciennes.
