The Association of Teachers calls on the Scarsdale community to vote on higher teacher pay at the May district meeting. They highlight living costs and partial salaries below 25 to 29 dollars weekly, noting many teachers borrow and struggle to cover basic expenses.
Professor Dixon Ryan Fox presents "Westchester in the Eighteenth Century" April 29 at Wayside Cottage. Proceeds benefit the Scarsdale Woman's Club as capacity crowd heard last week on "The Old Manor of Scarsdale."
A teacher group presents statistics on expenses and debt, asking the Board of Education to grant targeted salary subsidies by June 1 1920. They propose cuts and contributions to pension and welfare funds, with $11,400 needed to support salaries under 1500, plus other brackets, urging written reply by April 12.
Unanimous re election of the present Greenacres Board of Governors occurred at the annual meeting held Monday night at Hitchcock Memorial Church. Reports from committee chairs were read and approved led by R R Hunter chair of the Water Supply Committee of the Village Board.
Miss Clendenning recently started duties in Scarsdale seeks volunteers to work about 90 minutes weekly. Both men and women may volunteer, with daytime or evening availability. Anyone able to help should notify Miss Clendenning Scarsdale 392 at once.

World renowned organist Joseph Bonnet will perform at a private Scarsdale recital organized by Mr. and Mrs. Walter Runyon. The event funds the Smith Bryn Mawr and Mr Holyoke Endowment, with tickets via three committee chairmen. The Runyons’ organ, installed two years ago, features 58 stops across five divisions and electro pneumatic action powered by a 10 hp motor.
The Scarsdale Woman's Club will publish a year book as a supplement to the Scarsdale Inquirer next week. The supplement follows the club's annual meeting at Wayside Cottage on April 21, with enthusiastic turnout despite rain. A detailed report will appear in next week's special issue along with extra copies for members.
Plans for the Scout Play at the Girl Scout meeting last Wednesday afternoon. The Senior Troop committee of arrangements includes Esther Price Madge Banner Margaret Egan and Marjorie Nelson.

The Parent-Teacher Association and the Civics Section will hold a joint meeting on May 12. The PTA will meet for a business session and annual election at 3 30 PM, followed by a speech by Miss Minor at 4 PM. The event was sparsely attended.
Miss Jean Vermilya married Russell Adams Clapp Jr at Hitchcock Memorial Church with Rev. Smyth officiating. The ceremony featured lush greenery and pink sweet peas, a reception at the Ritz Crystal Room, and plans to reside in White Plains before moving to a Bronx Parkway home.
Oakland Sedans priced at 1885 dollars and Touring Cars at 1235 dollars appear alongside a Six Cylinder Valve-in-Head General Motors automobile and other used cars in an advertisement from Brown's Buick Service in White Plains New York.
A Friday sale at Wayside Cottage features Philippine hats for sport and summer wear. Proceeds go to the Smith Four Million Endowment. Hats priced from 7.50 to 15 dollars.
Special trains will run to Bryn Mawr Pennsylvania on May 7 and 8 for the fifth Bryn Mawr May Day on the college campus. Tickets may be secured via Mrs Gerard Fountain or Miss Emily E Van Horn in Scarsdale. The festival features a pageant May pole dances six old English plays and two masques with all students participating. Proceeds support the Two Million Dollar Endowment to raise professors salaries. Admission 3 dollars or 2 dollars for children under twelve Luncheon and supper served at the college gym and College Inn.
The Scarsdale Post of the American Legion adopts a resolution at its April 12 meeting denouncing the proposed bonus plan. It argues patriotism was proven by service, that compensation would burden taxpayers and small earners, and calls for support for disabled veterans and families of the fallen instead of a monetary bonus.
M. le Vicomte G Durancean de la Jarrie will address Wayside on Friday evening May 7 as a representative of the Idee Francaise. The lecture aims to promote French understanding and mutual benefits with other nations. Admission is free.
Scarsdale maidens host a dance at Wayside on April 17 with Princeton University rumored to be considering relocation. Guests include Mrs. Coombs and Mrs. James Briggs. Roycroft provides music while guests comment on the evening’s humor and atmosphere. A second dance series may occur next winter, with June guest tickets available through Mrs. Reynolds.
Despite poor weather the Fireside Players drew strong crowds for three one act plays at St Bartholomew’s Hall White Mains on April 15 and 16. Oscar M Wolff’s Where but in America and Harold Brigghouse s Lonesome Like along with Eugene O Neill s The Dreamy Kid offered humor and drama. Community singing led by A N Austin complemented intermission. The next performances are April 28 and 29 with a Beechwood Players visit rumored.
