Fires damage park area and architect's manor house

One of the village’s most unusual homes and a large section of Saxon Woods Park suffered two alarm fires on Friday. Firefighters battled a brush blaze across several acres aided by wind and limited equipment, while a separate two alar m fire destroyed the roof and attic of Walter K Pleuthner’s 1922 Heathcote Road manor house, with damage confined mostly to the roof and attic and the owner planning to rebuild.

Scarsdale Quaker Ridge to raise school taxes and tuition

Scarsdale and Quaker Ridge school districts prepare 1963-64 budgets with tax rate rises.
