The Scarsdale Board of Education praises public support for its school system and staff. President Robert G. Fuller says a formal statement of policies will be released next week after all members contribute.
Ray Ralph D. Ray of Woods Lane was named president of the Drake Rd Edgewood Association at the April 14 annual meeting at Edgewood School. Officers include Frank J. McGrath as vice president G Palmer Moffat Jr as secretary and Robert W Kuhn as treasurer. Board members are Charles Lee Brigga Wilbur W Criswell Jr Thomas McGrath Paul H Notage Nicholas V Pool James E Spence Madison Rd and Joseph M Walters. The retiring president Eddie W Dunn reported ongoing talks on Hutchinson River drainage and flooding with Scarsdale Eastchester and New Rochelle and noted several association activities including dog leash polling Red Cross Blood Bank Christmas lighting Safety Council and a March 14 Taxpayer's Bowl at Edgewood School.
Nancy Meredith from Scarsdale who won in 1952 leads a list of performers auditioning for the US Olympic Talent Show at the County Center Little Theatre. Paul Hull Eddie Dunn Jr Ned MacDowell Jean Cameron Cynthia Carpenter Rosalind Deutsch Carol Werner Patty Hackett Carol Christie and others compete as teams and soloists under Sal Prezioso, recreation director, chairing.
A movement to draft Justice William O. Douglas for president is organized in Scarsdale and White Plains. A meeting is set for Monday at 8 15 PM at the Halstead home 233 Fisher Ave White Plains opposite Ro Chambeau School inviting all interested to attend.
About 6380 boys, grouped into 41 teams, will start the father and son baseball leagues next week. The program aims to foster teamwork and long game learning across age groups in local communities.

A steering committee led by Robert Craft, with Stephen Lyons Max Donner Frank Gangemi William Stott Jerome Lippe Bernard Krosney Stanley Marks Lee Eastman Marvin Satz Edward Meyer Morris Mayer Lester Schrieber Howard McEldowney Mortimer Rothschild, sets the meeting for Thursday at 8 15 PM at the school. Pvt John Desjardins son of Mrs G T Desjardins from Northgate Apts has been assigned to the Chemical Officer Candidate School at Fort Riley Kansas and promoted to sergeant He attended the Leadership Course with the 26th Field Artillery Battalion 9th Infantry Division and graduated from Columbia University in 1951
Hartsell D. Kinsey was elected president of the Quaker Ridge Association at its annual meeting held April 8 at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Harold Clark. John B. Shepard was named vice president with Mrs. Morton Grossman as secretary and Mrs. Mehdi Dilhghani as treasurer for the 1952 53 year.
The Health Department reported four new chicken pox cases, 26 measles cases, and one German measles case in Scarsdale last week, detailing the spread of infectious diseases among children.
United States Senator Frank Carlson spoke at a Central Westchester Eisenhower Club rally in Scarsdale New York. Albert Ross club president introduced Carlson praised Eisenhower as an honest leader uniting Americans and Europe and urged a cooperative efficient administration over factional politics. Sigurd Larmon introduced Carlson and attendees numbered seven hundred as the event highlighted NATO and firm stance toward Russia.
East Scarsdale Association schedules Tuesday at 8 15 PM at American Legion Hall to elect officers for 1952 53 and two board members for three year terms. Nominations by a committee include Willard Dean Edward Garfield Wesley Schoenthaler Raymond Ringler Saul Meyers and Alfred Slaner. Additional floor nominations possible and an informal social hour will follow.

John F. Fowler, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fowler of Eastwoods Lane, has come home after 20 months of combat duty aboard the Heavy Cruiser USS St. Paul. He is assigned to the CIC Naval School in Glenview Tl.
Harriet Krantz will serve on the Village Board recreation committee with Karl Finsterbusch as chairman, not Willard F. P. Scott who is chairman of the law committee and also serves on the finance committee.
Scarsdale Girl Scouts and leaders collected over 2000 pounds of clothing for disaster victims in Korea Italy and the Philippines. Douglas Fairbanks Jr national chairman of American Relief to Korea accepted a 1000 pound gift and praised youth cooperation. Clothes were also sent to the Italian Welfare League with many troops knitting caps mittens and socks. Brownies prepared Afghan squares for display at the October Country Fair and leaders were invited to a round table discussion at the Bronxville Scout Institute on April 23.
At an April 8 gathering the Longview Civic Association unanimously approved leash restrictions for dogs. They plan voluntary leash adherence and will seek an ordinance with nearby civic groups. Also discussed were Greenburgh School District consolidations and the 1952 53 budget for the Edgemont School to be voted May 6.
John M Beshear of Tompkins Road Robert K Browne of Old Lane and Walter L Reed Jr of Tisdale Road were chosen by the Bureau of Naval Personnel for the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps college program. The Navy will subsidize their educations and upon graduation they will be commissioned as ensigns or second lieutenants in the Naval or Marine Corps Reserves.
Mrs. Harrison Todd of Bronxville is named chairman of the 1952 Red Feather Awards board of selectors. Frank Heiss, president of the Eastchester Community Fund, announced the appointment this week. Members include Lawrence Labriola, Mrs. Hubert S. Russell, and Alfred Fitzgerald.
Comdr. David C. Peto USN husband of the former Miss Lisa Leffingwell of Baton Lodge marked his 52nd birthday in New London Connecticut on April 11. He commands the Angler submarine featured during anniversary festivities as New England newsmen and seafaring townsfolk honored the occasion. The Petos reside in New London.

Major Vernon Corell of Post Ad retires from the Army for physical disability after a long reserve career. He enlisted in 1917, served overseas 1.5 years, mustered out in 1919 as first sergeant, commissioned 1924, active duty 1942 to 1947 in Medical Administrative Corps, recalled 1950, served at First Army and Camp Rucker, retired at Walter Reed in March. He holds the War I Victory Medal with three battle stars.

Enrolled Republicans and Democrats vote Tuesday April 22 from noon to nine to elect two delegates and two alternates to each national convention and to choose state committee members. The ballots are to be cast at regular polling places with all party members urged to vote. This public service note is from the League of Women Voters and the newspaper.

Miss Rosemary Kuhlman of Bell Road made her debut at the New York City Opera Co in the mother role in Gian Carlo Menotti Amahl and the Night Visitors on April 9. She repeated the role on the Christmas Eve TV telecast and on Christmas Day was praised with a telegram of congratulations from the Arthur Manor Association for her moving interpretation and beautiful voice.
Reeves Newsom will attend the American Water Works Association conference in Kansas City from May 4 to 9. A past president, he now serves as director representing the New York Section on the national board.
