Three candidates vie for Edgemont Board of Education seats in Greenburgh No. 6 to replace retiring members. Nominees are Mrs. Donald S. Whamond, Gerard T. Shevlin, and Donald O. Gardner, with elections set for May 2 at Edgemont School.
Children joining the spring Recreation Baseball League must report at elementary fields at ten tomorrow morning. High School students will officiate games starting April 22. Boys should contact the Recreation Department at Village Hall. Teams are organized by fathers with leaders in Greenacres Fox Meadow Edgewood Hartsdale Edgemont.
Eastchester area expectant mothers are invited to a series of Public Health Nursing Organization classes in April and May. Sessions run 1 30 to 2 30 at the Public Health Nursing office in Eastchester Town Hall, White Plains Post Ad. Attendees may start on any Tuesday. For details call Tuckahoe 83 2818.

The Recreation Department invites town organizations clubs and associations to file athletic and social events by April 17 for the May 1 Calendar of Events publication. Filing is free of charge for all groups.
Scarsdale children led Easter activities in Edgewood School and Hartsdale Cooperative Nursery School. The Seven Bluebirds from Edgewood presented baskets to White Plains Hospital for child patients, while Hartsdale pupils dyed eggs and held an egg hunt. Arlene Labow led the hospital presentation.
The Town Club allocates $500 toward publishing a Scarsdale history. A $2,000 private raise is sought to subsidize manuscript work by Fred Lavis and Cleveland A. Dunn. The effort, potentially funded by a $2,500 subsidy to a graduate student, aims for a 1954 club anniversary publication.
After-school athletic centers will be held Monday through Friday from three to five weather permitting at four village elementary schools. Village budget gains include debt service drop, higher operating costs, and added police and fire staffing. budgets were accepted.
Nine year olds Peter Leibert and Jonathan Gillett kept a burst water pipe from flooding the Edgemont School grounds by placing fingers in the leak until a policeman and plumber could respond. Principal Moyle praised the boys for quick thinking and action.
Mrs. George C. Kindred of Underhill Road is named chairman of the Entertainment and Instruction Service of the Westchester Chapter American Red Cross. The appointment was announced by Mrs. Russell McCandless, Chapter Volunteer Services chairman. Prior to this, Mrs. Kindred served as vice-chairman of the Service and worked with the Red Cross in Scarsdale during the war.
The Greenville Community Council plans its annual meeting at Edgemont School next Tuesday at eight. Topics include traffic dangers to schoolchildren, Major Deegan Thruway routing, and Greenville Fire Department fire prevention and fighting efforts with a public demonstration by paid firemen.
A New York Central Railroad official, A. Kielty, will discuss the railroad's plans at the Edgemont Association annual meeting in the auditorium on Monday at 8 30. The program will include traffic demand notes for Scarsdale station and a representative from the Westchester Planning Commission outlining the proposed New York Buffalo Thruway. Residents are invited to attend.
Health Department reports one new case of German measles and one strep throat in Scarsdale last week.
The village notes spring has arrived and bicycle traffic will rise with warmer weather. Motorists and bicyclists share traffic rules, including riding on the right and stopping for lights. Bicyclists must have front and rear lights after dark.
Mrs. James A. Carroll Jr. of Wayside Lane was elected president, succeeding Mrs. Harris L. Wofford who served two years. Other officers elected include Mrs. Robert S. Erskine as first vice president and Mrs. Burnham Finney as second vice president and program chairman. Directors named were Mrs. Arthur E. Baylis, Mrs. Raymond A. Lockwood, Mrs. Alfred P. Slaner, and Mrs. John E. F. Wood.
Philip L. Carret of 28 Circle Rd was nominated as vice president of The Town Club for the year starting next September and would likely become president in 1951 52 if elected. H Beach Carpenter was nominated to be president as expected after serving as vice president this year. Carret is an investment securities dealer and chairs the board of American Book Co. He formerly served on Scarsdale School District 1 Board of Education. Other officers were renominated and a three year board slate was named. Elections are set for May 18.
John Nute, Fort Hill veteran, steps into the lead when Rex Wallace falls ill in Angel Street at Edgemont School. He memorizes 50 pages after a three day rush, rehearsing 12 hours with Marie Boone to capture the role. Nute previously played a peasant in Bell for Adano and a bartender in a prize festival, and Paul Sycamore in You Cant Take It With You.
Henry C. Knight and Ruth Flynn co chair the Westchester Tuberculosis Society x ray drive at Central Ave Fire House the week of May 16. Canvassers will visit Hartsdale homes to enroll every family member aged 15 and over. The goal is full participation.
Governor Dewey signed a bill allowing the Town of Greenburgh to form a public parking district in Hartsdale and another law authorizes town boards to install parking meters in such districts.
The county chapter of the American Red Cross seeks hundreds of volunteers for the new 1 985 bed Veterans Administration Hospital at Peekskill. They need Gray Ladies arts and crafts workers staff aides drivers sewers canteen and entertainment workers. Apply at county headquarters 106 North Broadway White Plains for screening Tuesdays 10 12 and 2 4. Accepted volunteers will take a course at headquarters at 2 PM on April 20 24 27 and May 1. Those with a current certificate need only attend the orientation on April 27 10 12.
Scarsdale Girl Scouts seek ophiologists and entomologists to assist with achievement badges. Miss Muriel Smith, local executive director, requests any specialists in reptiles or insects to contact the Girl Scout House for time.
Eight applicants seek the $4 770 a year postmaster job in Hartsdale per the Civil Service Commission. The commission will stop accepting applications and has begun screening to eliminate at least five candidates, with up to three to be certified to the Post Office Department.
