Scarsdale High Prep Baseball Seeks Strong Season
Scarsdale High School varsity baseball, led by eight returning lettermen, prepares for a 16 game schedule beginning with Lincoln. Coach Pat Menna’s 17 man squad includes 12 seniors, 3 juniors, two sophomores with 11 league games in the Westchester Interscholastic Athletic Conference and a home tilt versus Ossining on April 23.

Scarsdale edges Mamaron ack 12 to 8 in opener as offense dominates and defense falters. Jon Saiber and Jim Barysh pace scoring with multi goal bursts, while Rob ert Koegel and Stephen Shay add key goals in a high scoring contest. Later Scarsdale routs Rye High 10 to 3 led by Al Blum Doug Romberg and Koegel with Saiber adding two goals.

Weinberg Nature Center expands spring activities with guided 45 minute walks Sundays 3 pm April 14 through June. Bird walks for adults Saturdays 9 am April 20 through May 25. Archery Classes for Scarsdale Boys and Girls Begin May 2
Scarsdale Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation offers Archery for grades 4 through 8 residing in or attending Scarsdale schools. Eight weekly sessions run May 2 to June 13 with girls 3 30 to 4 30 p.m. and boys 4 30 to 5 30 p.m. at Scarsdale Supply Field. Harry Isokane will instruct. arrows provided, other equipment optional. World’s Children Tell In Costume at Fox Meadow Show
Third grade students at Fox Meadow School staged Children’s Fashions of the World with Mrs Mary Richardson guiding. Don Pascal and Kimberly Marks narrated as parents watched a parade of costumes from many nations including a Spanish bullfighter a Hawaiian dancer and a Tanzanian in a toga. Miss Eileen Barry school nurse appeared as an elegant Japanese lady. Musical numbers featured include When I Was Eight or Nine a duet by Jason Slate and Jay Salezari a Japanese song by Diane Shader and Tom Williams Sweet Chariot by Carl Johnson and a finale Fabulous Places. The program tied to the third grade study of world cultures.

Statewide Library Jingle Contest invites students from grade 1 to 12 to write a three line verse about The Library Song. Prizes include encyclopedias in three categories with entries due by May 31 1968.

Greenacres Presents Performing Arts Mix Of Science Ballet And Jazz
Greenacres students at all grade levels explored art music and science in a yearlong program. Fifth grade pupils formed an Audubon Club ballet and instrumental pieces inspired by flora and fauna. Fourth grade showcased African artifacts from Mrs. Ames with slides and maps. Fifth graders performed Peer Gynt with unusual ballets and Greig music in an all school assembly. Upper grades sampled new electronic music as part of expanding art trends. A Greenacres Circus featuring kindergarten through second grade acts coincided with Barnum and Bailey events at Madison Square Garden.

Edgewood students collect sort and pack books for Miss Helen Vinansky in Jamaica West Indies. PTA funds cover shipping. Students also supported other service projects including pencil needles thread canned goods and a hospital ship toy drive highlighting ongoing Community Service traditions.

Heathcote second graders performed a creative musical version of Country Bunny and Little By Shoes with dancing singing and digging bunnies. Teachers Mrs Leda Canino Mrs Irene Black and Miss Toni Fahey guided the students who filled in dialogue without a script. Children made the scenery and parents sewed costumes.
