Residents protest dumping near snail property
A petition by 28 residents presented to the Village Board alleges a proposed public dump on Dunwoodie and Lee Roads threatens the snail property. Village Manager Reeves Newsom states ashes and similar refuse are being dumped as a prelude to converting the site into a public park. Garth Road parking widened request returned to board
Scarsdale Chamber of Commerce asked again Monday night for widening the west side of Garth Road to permit diagonal or horizontal parking. Village Manager Reeves Newsom said the issue is under informal study and referred to the public safety committee and the highways and drainage committee for an early report.

Charles Schmidt reports final preparations for a May 3 Motion Picture Festival at Scarsdale Theatre to benefit Fenimore Cooper Council’s Camp Curtis Read in the Adirondacks. About 1500 residents attended Scarsdale Post No. 52 American Legion’s Saturday preview of its new headquarters on Mamaro Neck Road and the Memorial Park. A parade from the Harwood Building featured Post Commanders J Bradford Rickett and Daniel Frees, Color Guard, and Scarsdale High School Band, ending at 3 pm. Visitors toured the former Rosedale Riding Academy, now renovated with parking, fields, and planned living memorial landscaping. Bouchelle is the Class B bowling champion at Scarsdale Golf Club for the year, reclaiming the crown he held in 1946. Resolutions from East Scarsdale tackle rail right of way
East Scarsdale Association passed a resolution at its last meeting calling on the village board to buy the defunct Westchester and Boston Railroad right of way to guard property owners against a potential through truck route. The board referred the measure to the public property committee and Planning Commission for study. The association also seeks transferring burning of trees and trash from Secor Road and Palmer Avenue to village land east of Crossways.
