Scarsdale groups back teacher pay raises at budget hearing
At the Scarsdale School Board budget hearing last night the Town Club PTA Council and other groups urged approval of the revised teachers salary schedule and urged Fox Meadow School renovations. The budget totals 7 726 327 with a tax rate of 51 71 per thousand and includes a 335 000 boost for teachers salaries. The budget study committee supported the raises but questioned the schedule’s competitive standing while urging Fox Meadow renovations and a 35 000 project cost be studied and funded this year. The League of Women Voters backed higher salaries as essential to good education and the Fox Meadow PTA called for space and plumbing upgrades. The Town Club Education Committee and others expressed support for the pay raise and stressed keeping taxes reasonable.
