Citizens of Scarsdale are invited to a public meeting in Town Hall on Tuesday April 18 at 8 o clock. The Joint Town and Highway Board will hear inquiries and views on granting a franchise to the Sher brook Water Company as ordered by the Town Board and Highway Commissioners in April 1905.
Wilmot Road property sold last week to New York buyers from H C B Angell for a boys club use. The adjoining Stiers place went to Watson Brickman and nearby Drake and Archer farms were sold this winter. Get acquainted with the new Pin cus Suit and you will be satisfied.
Governor Higgis signs and Wainwright introduces a measure authorizing Greenburgh to issue 225000 in bonds for road macadamization. Levy on town taxpayers outside villages funds Central Park avenue Platt avenue Jackson avenue Taxter Road Old Sprain Road Lander Road Old Tuckahoe Road and other projects with eight 1000 dollar bonds and one 1500 dollar bond dated May 1905.
The Town Board met last Saturday with most members present and adjourned to April 15. A petition from Scarsdale citizens urged delaying action on a water supply franchise until a proposed form is published for public consideration.
Mr Henry A Halstead who ran the bathing houses and pavilion at Oakland Beach for years is tearing down all his buildings after notice that his lease would not be renewed when it ended May first. The bath houses have been torn down and moved away. The pavilion and office remain but will soon be removed. The forty five acre tract belongs to the estate of Newberry Halstead with a life interest to his widow who died last fall. The property descends to Augustus Halstead a nephew. He has challenged past sheriff sales and seeks to keep the beach open next summer under his son John Henry Halstead who plans more buildings and to run it as a temperance place. Many cottages remain for one to two years. Sam Wells the boatman is uncertain of his plans for the near future.

Chappaqua discusses building an Inn near the station as the Gramatan model. Yonkers butchers face price increases with possible further hikes ahead. Goshen schools appoint Guy H Baskerville superintendent. White Plains schools gain new leadership. Two trolley crashes injure two women in Mamaroneck and White Plains. Croton Dam fears after freshets as the unfinished dam section worries officials. New Baptist church in New Rochelle to be dedicated next Sunday with weeklong services. Yonkers Women’s Institute expands evening classes employment bureaus for working girls. Hastings fire damages former Dr Ranges residence. observatory equipment and greenhouse narrowly escape. Grass fires set by aqueduct workers add to the blaze.
April calendar lists events in White Plains including Congregational Church social on April 7 and dedication week at White Plains M E Church from April 9 to 16. School bond bids opened April 10 and a patriotic dedication program is set for April 10.
