Parkway Police Chief Demoted and Fined Over Overtime Credits
Chief Frank J. McCabe of the Parkway Police was demoted to patrolman and fined the pay he would have earned from his suspected pension on March 6 by the Park Commission last Saturday. The charges centered on overtime credits suggested by the chief for Lieutenant Nicholas Fandell. McCabe said he will appeal the decision.

A public hearing on the proposed village budget is set for Monday April 22 at 8 15 p m in the Village Hall. The board will hold its semi monthly meeting next Tuesday evening April 9.
Bronze Star Said To Lieut Deland For Okinawa Heroism
Second Lieutenant Rawle Deland USMCR received the Bronze Star Medal from the President for heroism as a machine gun officer with the 7th Marines during the Okinawa action on 13 April 1945. He reorganized his unit after an ambush, was wounded, and carried a casualty to safety. The Brooklyn Navy Yard ceremony featured a letter from A. A. Vandergrift praising his devotion to duty. Deland, son of Mr and Mrs Thorndike Deland, previously wounded three times, is returning from Pacific duty and may be discharged in about two months.

Lieutenant Richard Simon Receives Air Medal
Lieutenant Richard Simon son of Manfred and Mrs. Simon of 168 Madison Road received the Air Medal for meritorious achievement in aerial flight during the war's closing phases. The 21 year old C 47 transport pilot arrived overseas in November 1944 and flew hazardous supply and troop missions in Northern France and Middle Europe.

Yonkers teen confesses burglary of Stix home
Richard Vitolo, 17, of 124 Riverdale Ave Yonkers, was taken into custody March 27 by Greenburgh Police and allegedly confessed to robbing Edgar R Stix on March 23. Items worth 550 dollars including a diamond ring electric razor fountain pen and fifty dollars were recovered. Vitolo and another youth were arrested in Hartsdale Manor and held for Grand Jury action on a third degree burglary charge.

School Pupil Confesses in Double White Plains Robberies
Jean Smith a sixteen year old ward of a New York City family confessed to burglaries in Scarsdale and thefts from four White Plains department stores in February and March. She admitted entering two Scarsdale homes and stealing jewelry and clothing valued over $4,000, plus $150 in goods from White Plains stores. Items were shipped to Norfolk Virginia under an alias and later recovered. The case was held for the grand jury with potential Youthful Offenders Act publicity limits.
