John Isaacson died Sunday morning at his home southwest of Scandia. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday at 2 p.m. at Amana Lutheran church. A basket dinner was held Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Lervold in honor of Mr. Lervold’s 50th birthday, with many relatives and neighbors in attendance from Republic, Belleville, Courtland, Hardy, Nebr., Kansas City, and nearby areas.

Scandia seniors lead school trip to Denver and Colorado sites
Twenty five Scandia High School seniors with sponsor Mr Quantic and six chaperones traveled by six cars from Scandia to Denver on April 28 1942 visiting Roosevelt Hotel Denver City Park Stapleton Airport morrison Red Rocks Echo Lake and Lookout Mountain before continuing to Colorado Springs and famed landmarks. The trip included a canyon ride to Central City Buffalo Bills grave and a mountain ascent. Students returned safely with stories of the journey and accompanying banquet notes.
