Senior Play Bashful Mr Bobbs Friday Night at High School

The senior class presents Bashful Mr Bobbs Friday night in the high school auditorium at 8 o clock. Leo Johnson stars as Marston Bobbs with Eldon Larson as shy cousin Robert. The cast includes Adelene Sandell, Bobby Ewin, Eldred Freed, Mona Lee Tohman, Virginia Paul, Wallace Boman, Trena Skidmore, Lucille Larson, Corinne Nashind and others. Rev W Clyde Wolfe to Lead Passion Week at Rydal

Under Dr J C Everett guidance a Passion Week service series will run nightly next week at 7 30 in the Rydal church starting Monday April 3. Grade Schools to Have Music Fest in Belleville

The Republic County Grade School Music Festival will be held at Belleville High School auditorium Saturday April 4 starting at 10:00 a.m. More than 25 county schools participate with forenoon selections from rural and grade schools and an afternoon program of mass chorus and individual numbers.

Encyclopedia Theft Racket Reaches Rydal School

A winter theft ring stealing school library encyclopedias struck Rydal School District 9 near Rydal on a Friday night. A shotgun owned by teacher Dee Haptonstall, who lives in the basement, was also taken. Sheriff Curtis Moore, undersheriff Andy Moore, and county superintendent Madison Coombs investigate.

Stenographer Dorothy Aspegren Named County Official

Miss Dorothy Aspegren, daughter of Ada Aspegren of Scandia, is hired by the Board of County Commissioners as stenographer and book-keeper in the county engineer's office replacing Erma Cardwell. The new appointee began duties Monday. Cardwell plans a move to California with her husband and son.

YWCA Meeting Moved to Schoolhouse April 6 at 3 PM

Notice states the regular YWCA meeting is rescheduled to the school house Thursday afternoon April 6 at 3 00 due to church meeting conflicts. Juniors Win Track Meet In Inter Class Competition

The juniors scored 44 points to lead the inter class track meet with seniors 35, sophomores 31, and freshmen eight. The Swedes show strong early season form despite weather and may excel in track this season. County Music Festival Highlights Nine Schools

The Republic County High School Music Festival held Friday March 24 featured all nine county high schools. Scandia High presented an A Cappella Choir performing Beautiful Savior with Marcelene Perry as soloist and Solitude with a girls trio. Paul Albro played My Old Kentucky Home as a cornet solo. Scandia opened and closed the program with its A Cappella choir.

Mass Meeting Sunday in Scandia Methodist Church

Father Son Banquet Delights Scandia High School Crowd

The Father and Son banquet at the Scandia high school auditorium drew about 125 attendees including fathers and 20 fine boys. Rev J K Englund gave the invocation, and Miss Trea Reiber directed the Girl Reserves balance of preparations. The program featured the Boys Choir, Rev Linerson and Rev Indleceffer talks, Miss Jean Hartman piano, and an orchestra including Adolphus Nelson and Lee Reece, with Master of Ceremonies Eldon Larson delivering a strong welcome.

The Easter Cantata Christ Triumphant by Holton will be presented Sunday at 8:00 p m in the Scandia high school auditorium. Palm Sunday program drawn from church services. Superintendent Miller Accepts Washington Kansas City Schools Post

Fred L. Miller announced his acceptance of the superintendent role for Washington Kansas City Schools for next year after six years leading Scandia schools. He chairs state education groups, earned a Master of Science, and led Scandia through facility and program expansions including a new gymnasium, vocational programs, and music emphasis. Miller and wife Dolores will move to Washington late this summer amid well wishes from friends and local families.
