A Tuesday night storm brought strong winds hail and rain across Scandia and areas south of Norway. Farms near Paul Moe Gene Nelson and other properties reported damaged buildings uprooted trees and smashed crops with oats and wheat flattened and hay stacks torn apart. Damage extended to trees corn and grass in nearby communities with scattered reports of further losses yet to be tallied.

Rev Charles Pehrson Dies After Short Illness
Rev. Charles Pehrson former Amana Lutheran pastor here for eight years died June 10 in Trinity Lutheran Hospital Kansas City after a two week illness. He retired a year ago and moved to Salina to build a new home. Survived by wife Lydia a sister Bettie Moe of Norway and brothers Pete Norway and Andrew Salina. Funeral at Immanuel Lutheran Salina Monday at 2 PM with burial in Salina Lutheran cemetery.

Street Lighting Rates Cut Under New Kansas Power Contract
