The Kansas School and Commission bought another $500,000 in government bonds last week, increasing total holdings to $6,700,000. A balance of $391,885 remains in the permanent school funds.
State Weed Supervisor T F Yost warns that feed containing bindweed seeds in grains and roughage spreads the weed more than seed sown by drills. 4H Adams and L E McEwen urge careful purchase of winter livestock feed as coarse seeds resist separation from grains. Grinding with a hammer mill can destroy seed viability. an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure as bindweed may lie dormant.
Bindweed is named the most dangerous weed to agriculture in our county. Landowners are urged to prevent its spread by using every effort and any available means.
Field office manager announces a representative from the Old Age and Survivors Insurance Bureau will be at the Concordia Post Office on Wednesday December 27 at 10 00 am. Workers 65 and older and widows or parents of deceased servicemen may inquire about benefits and retirement.
