Western Light and Telephone Company will turn in a first half tax payment of 7591 dollars to the Republic County Treasurer. In 1963 its ad valorem taxes in Republic County totaled 15182 dollars and the state total was 1116761 dollars. Second halves are due in June 1964. WL&T operates in 39 Kansas counties and has grown its tax contributions over the past decade. In 1963 taxes rose by 102820 dollars from 1962, and since 1953 taxes have more than doubled. In 1962 taxes reached 3683400 dollars, about 23 cents of each dollar of gross revenue.

Savings Bond Sales Hit 64 Million Statewide For Year
November sales of Series E and H United States Savings Bonds in Kansas reached 4 935 870 with year to date 64 522 469. C D Makalous Republic County Savings Bonds Chairman said the state has 89 percent of its yearly quota. Republic County 11 month sales totaled 387 859 and national November sales rose two percent from a year earlier with daily average the best for any November in eight years.
