The December third Sorosis Club meeting focused on J. Edgar Hoover's Masters of Deceit and Communist strength in the United States. Scandia Chapter No. 481 OES held a regular meeting December 3 electing Mrs Ernest Kirk as worthy matron and Ernest Kirk as worthy patron with other officers chosen. A special session November 29 conferred degrees and a memorial service. Christmas programs by Scandia Methodist Sunday School and MYF are set for December 16. YWCA activities at Library Club room included Christmas readings and carols with plans for high school caroling on December 18 and Christmas gifts project.

Legion Auxiliary Meets Votes Support for Veterans Fund
Albert Isaacson James Larsen American Legion Auxiliary Unit 193 met at the Legion Hall on November 27 with 14 members present. The group voted to send 5 dollars to the Dollar Gift fund for Veterans Christmas and discussed gifts for two Rest Home members. They prepared October and November refreshments, received favors from Pawnee Indians 4H Club, sent 25 dozen cookies to the Veterans hospital in October and a gift box in November, and noted donations from Mrs. Celia Stromberg and Mrs. Roy Tedrow for hospital use. Also planned are a Girls State delegate in June and a revision of the Legislative Bulletin as well as donations to the Rehabilitation fund for the Rest Home project. Embroidery thread will be donated for mission service. a December 27 meeting was scheduled due to Christmas Day.
