Piconda District Scout-O-Rama unfolds at the National Guard Armory in Concordia on Saturday April 18 1964 from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. Units from Scandia including Pack 232 display scouting skills with tickets supporting local units and show operations. Tickets available from any Cub Scout Boy Scout or Explorer.
Scandia Chapter No. 481 OES met in stated form Tuesday April 7 at 8 p.m. with Mrs. Ern est Kirk and Ernest Kirk presiding. Degrees were conferred. Next meeting is Tuesday May 5 at 8 p.m. with past matrons and patrons to renew the obligation. Refreshments served by Mr. and Mrs. Carl Hammer and Mr. and Mrs. Lester Richards.
The ALCW met Friday at the Lutheran church parlors in Belleville for their annual Guest Day with Scandia Methodist and Belleville Lutheran ladies as guests. A program of group singing scripture and prayer followed by a book review The Stewardess by Mrs. Louis Stofer of Beloit. Tea table refreshments were served by Mrs. Ben Lervold Mrs. George Cardwell Mrs. Clarence Strom Mrs. BE T Olson Mrs. Max Berry Mrs. Kenneth Tuley Miss Vernice Swanson and Mrs. Earl Melby.
The Triple L Club met Thursday April 9 with host Mrs Bertha Christie. Members listed include Mrs George Cardwell Mrs Merl Haser Mrs Ralph Moe Mrs Bill Moe Mrs Ethel Thomas Mrs Carl Erickson Mrs Bill Clark Mrs Hannah Freed Mrs Ben Lervold Mrs Reuben Johnson and others. Pinochle was played at four tables and lunch was served. The next meeting will be April 23 with Mrs Bill Moe.
Mrs Irvin Currie hosted relatives in Concordia for birthday anniversaries including Bertha Larsen J B Rodgers Glenn Larsen and Freddie James town. Bertha Granstedt and Miss Sadie Robison hosted a supper for her birthday. Randy Farrell marked his 9th birthday with a weiner roast among friends.
Dr. C. C. Arnett of Belleville and Walter H. Berger attended a Saturday Work Shop and School of Instruction of the Grand Chapter, Royal Arch Masons, held in Newton.
Mr. and Mrs. Alva Thompson visited Mr. and Mrs. Axel Jensen for Sunday lunch, sharing a casual family gathering.
Mr. and Mrs. Verron White and family of Belleville were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Everett Johnson and family.
Mr and Mrs Paul Nelson and Eve Lyn of Overland Park Miss Ethel and Alice Nelson of Kansas City Miss Florence Nelson of Formose and Gerhard Nelson were weekend guests of Axel Nelson.
Norton and Fairbury families shared meals with relatives Saturday and Sunday. Guests included Frank Berggren and family from Norton, Rex Sandell and Garold Sandell from Norton, Maggie Corbin from Fairbury, Lawrence Nelson and sons from Concordia, and others visiting area households. Hospital stays and anniversaries also noted among neighbors.
Mr. and Mrs. Godfrey Boman and their boys spent Saturday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Davis and family. Mrs. Katherine Fike and Ronnie Fredrickson were Sunday dinner and afternoon guests of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Nelson of Courtland.
Thomas Anderson joined Mr and Mrs Malker Lindecrantz and relatives for a Sunday evening gathering, sharing time with the family and nearby neighbors.
Mr and Mrs Richard Jensen of Re publics called on Sunday evening at Mr and Mrs Axel Jensen's home for a social visit.
Mrs. Will Mahaffey and Mrs. Geo Barleen visited Saturday afternoon for tea and conversation at Mrs. Gunda Larsen’s residence.
Mr and Mrs Algor Anderson spent Sunday evening with Mr and Mrs Charles Johnson, sharing hospitality and conversation in a social gathering.
Mrs Lonnie Lewellyn and Shawn returned home Thursday from Republic County hospital. Numerous visitors called, including Chester Florea of Chester Nebraska and Belleville residents Mrs E F Kelly and Mr and Mrs Dave Eberly. Cousins of Mr Kelly joined Mrs Hartman from Ellensburg Washington, plus Morehead and Thompson families from Fairbury and surrounding areas.
Mrs. Edith Forsberg came home Wednesday from Manhattan where she visited Harvey Sandell and Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Sandell and family. Mr. and Mrs. Lester Thompson were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Thompson and family.
Mrs Everett Johnson entertained with a bridge party on Wednesday attended by Mrs Vernon White of Pelleville Mrs Kenneth Tuley of Republic Mrs Ralph Jo Larson of Concordia Mrs Russell Lervold Mrs Don Larson Mrs Lee Loring Mrs Jack Reece Mrs Earl Melby Mrs Max Thompson Mrs Joe McDoneld and Mrs Genn Larson.

Lester Simpson travels to St Louis for a hospital checkup and Scotty Hay undergoes minor surgery in Republic County hospital. Martha Circle meets April 28 at 2 00 p m.
