Mr Rimol longtime county official dies after cancer surgery and lengthy illness. He was an early Norway township settler since 1869 and served as County Commissioner eight years. His son Nels was the township’s first white birth. Funeral held. he is laid to rest beside wife and child.
The Journal announces Wim RK Wells of Belleville Township as a Republican candidate for County Treasurer in the August 4 primary. Wells came to Republic County in 1871 as an infant, has long resided in Belleville Township, and is the son of former County Commissioner John E. Wells. He has education from public schools and Belleville High, plus two years as Belleville township trustee and stints as Secretary of the Republic County Fair Association in 1906 and 1907.
I O Savage collapsed from heart failure or stroke after attending Mr Rimol’s funeral. A Republic county pioneer and former County Treasurer and State Senator, born September 30 1833 in Monrovia New York, he served in the Civil War and lived in Republic county since 1870. He died near the Rimol home awaiting a carriage. Olson’s Cash Grocery advertises fall line of Garden Seed and Onion sets.
