Largest Miakka bass caught by V A Drymon in June
A 17.5 pound black bass, 28 inches long with 19.5 inch girth, was landed by V A Drymon on June 19 in the Miakka River using a floating wobble lure. Q B Nicks, who joined the trip, says witnessing the catch was worth the trip. Drymon plans to mount the bass head as a keepsake.

Small Fire at Baggett Residence Halts Nearby Property Threat
Chief Stephens responded Tuesday to a blaze at the home of G R Baggett at Orange avenue and Twelfth street. A small truck bucket brigade initially fought the flames in a pile of bagasse but could not curb it until the large truck with hose aided by a flowing well and the small truck pump subdued the fire with no property damage beyond the trash pile.
