FHA Programs See Expansion
The Rural Development Act is expected to expand government participation in improving rural areas especially in community facilities. Elwood Thueson told Sandpoint Chamber members that FHA loan limits rise from 35000 to 50000 and private lenders will be integrated to free more funds for farmers. In Idaho FHA aided about half the farmers with large loan activity rising in Bonner County doubling housing programs since 1969. The act broadens first lien lending with second lien FHA loans for farm purchase growth or small business enterprises. (Cont. On Page Two)

Sand Point Merchants Offer $100 Reward for Shoplifter Convictions
The Sand Point Merchants Association announced a $100 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of shoplifters. The program, formed at a recent monthly meeting at the Pastime Pan handle Room, starts immediately in conjunction with the check alert system. ASSOCIATION CHAIRMAN Jim Tinsman announced the reward and drive to deter theft.

Sandpoint High School senior Linda Murray won the Idaho State 4-H photography award and will travel to Chicago for the National 4-H Club Congress, sponsored by Eastman Kodak. She led 4-H photography efforts, mentors a group, and teaches photography to special education students at the local junior high.
