A 1966 Pontiac Grand Prix driven by Rawleegh D. Swarringen, 21, of Spokane, struck a 125 pound brown bear four miles west of Clark Fork on Highway 200 Wednesday night. Deputy Bob Rice said Swarringen braked hard, skidding about 30 feet before the collision. the bear, still alive at scene, was euthanized. A Clark Fork bear tag holder received permission to take the carcass.

Teens Arrested for Grand Theft Auto in Idaho Route
Two Wenatchee juveniles were arrested by Idaho State Patrolman Jerry Johnson after a traffic stop 10 miles east of Sandpoint on Highway 200. They allegedly stole a 1969 Chevy Nova in Blaine Washington, drove to Moses Lake to collect a girlfriend, then headed to Plains Montana where the Nova broke down. They reportedly stole a 1977 Chevrolet pickup in Plains and were en route to Oregon before the officer apprehended them and transported them to Bonner County jail.
