Sandpoint Man Killed Crossing Highway 2 Near Spokane

A 22 year old Sandpoint man, Jack Trone II, was struck and killed while crossing Highway 2 near Spokane Raceway during the American Hot Rod Association World Drag Finals site. He died after being pronounced at Deaconess Hospital. The driver Harold Lucht 47 of Reardan reported seeing him step from the median into the eastbound lane at 9 25 p m.

City and County Seek Vacating Airport Property Value Award

Sandpoint restraining order over city water hookup dispute

A district court issued a restraining order preventing Sandpoint city council members from blocking a water hookup from a city main to the Molstead property outside the city. Bonner County Schools begin October offering tetanus diphtheria polio and measles rubella vaccines to students in grades 1 5 9 and others on request Panhandle Health District I administers vaccines with a required polio consent and warning form signed by at least one parent The district notes past polio cases dropped to 14 last year from about 5500 annually before vaccines and cites a Texas court decision on tiny polio vaccine risk.

Idaho tests slurry seal to cut road maintenance costs

An experimental asphalt slurry road treatment is tested in District Three to lower upkeep costs and improve skid resistance. The Idaho Highway Division plans winter monitoring, with results guiding future use. The Perrine Memorial Bridge completion is targeted for Nov 1, while a Tollgate area highway 68 section may be delayed by bad weather. The board also approved a federal grant and local matching funds for elderly and handicapped transportation facilities.
