Thumbs Down On Land Fill Site
Bonner County commissioners learned a Spokane geologist disqualified the Dufort Sanitary Landfill site near Sandpoint. A planning hearing was canceled as the 87 acre site 11 miles south of Sandpoint and 15 miles east of Priest River was dropped after a 90 day extension expired September 1. No replacement site yet chosen. two or three proposals under consideration.

Two Cyclists Hurt In Wreck In Sandpoint
Two motorcyclists were injured Monday when their cycles struck the rear of an automobile at Boyer and Cedar Street in Sandpoint. Bruce D. Martin, 17, of Star Route Sandpoint and Edward K. Porter, 18, of Sagle suffered injuries and were cited for following too closely by Patrolman Pete Robinson after hitting Kenton R. Danielson’s car.

Fire Destroys Rosgen Barn Near Bronx Substation
A barn and 12 tons of hay burned Monday night on Dave Rosgen’s property near the Bronx substation. The blaze began around 9 30 p m when wind carried burning trash from Rosgen’s site into the shed. The Northside Fire Protective Association extinguished the fire.
