Governor appoints Sandpoint woman to juvenile council

Governor Cecil D. Andrus announced the appointment of Barbara Sterling of Sandpoint to a newly created Idaho Juvenile Justice Advisory Council of 211 members. The panel advises the State Law Enforcement Planning Commission on juvenile care and treatment for one year through July 1, 1976, alongside many state officials and local leaders.

City Recovers Reimbursement for Sandpoint Park Grant

George Miller of the Idaho Park and Recreation Board announces an $8,120.03 reimbursement to the City of Sandpoint from the Federal Bureau of Outdoor Recreation. The 50 percent Land and Water Conservation Fund grant aids Sandpoint City Park, distributed locally by the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation. Idaho governments have received over $11 million from the fund for outdoor recreation projects.

Control Fire At Lightning Creek

U.S. Forest Service conducts prescribed burns in Lightning Creek drainage north of Clark Fork burning 176 acres in two burns. District ranger Jerry Stern reports 150 acres on the west side and 26 acres on a Battle Creek slope. assistant ranger Dave Simpson notes favorable conditions and plans to burn about 150 more acres this afternoon to reach 289 acres remaining by Wednesday.

Forest Act rules rejected by Idaho Land Board

The Idaho State Land Board on Friday refused to approve Forest Practices Act rules pending an attorney general opinion on constitutionality. The act, passed in 1974 and effective July 1, seeks Department of Lands powers over private timberland, drawing suits from the Committee to Repeal and the Kootenai County Christian Posse Commitates.
