Bonner County Fair crowns dairy and cattle champs
The Bonner County Fair drew a large crowd as exhibits were removed after the fat stock sale. Top honors went to H K Paisley for the best dairy cow and overall champion, with multiple breeds led by Herefords and Charolais taking top spots. Open class beef showcased five breeds and several local farms earned multiple grand championships. Six New Fires Start in Kaniksu National Forest
Six new spot fires were started by last night’s lightning in the Kaniksu National Forest. Fire officials said spotters found them last night and confirmed at daybreak. Weather is dry lightning with gusty winds and no rain, and the end of the fire season nears around September 15. The last contracted helicopters were released to the Clearwater National Forest amid rising fire threats in the Orofino area.
