Comprehensive Plan Copies Draw Sparse Public Interest

Sandpoint city printed about 700 copies of the Comprehensive Plan and model ordinances at a cost near 670 dollars. Fewer than 35 residents have retrieved copies at City Hall, with 30 more sent to Sandpoint High School. A Nov 3 public hearing on the plan is set at Sandpoint Junior High.

All Lewiston Trial Bills To Be Paid

Bonner County will cover all costs from the first degree murder trial of Everett Hofmeister Jr. through Oct 15 totaling about forty thousand dollars by Doris Kenney. Bills for jurors etc remain unpaid. Lewiston hosted the trial with Nez Perce County clerks handling some payrolls.

Art Auction Ready by Legion of Fine Arts at Sandpoint Elks Lodge

The Legion of Fine Arts hosts its third annual art auction at the Sandpoint Elks Lodge this Saturday. Viewing opens at 7:30 p.m. with bidding starting at 8:30 p.m. Proceeds fund Legion projects and feature prizes including a Wally Weltzin lithograph and a painted driftwood piece.

Jury Sequestered 11 Days in Hofmeister Trial

Fourteen jurors endured 11 days sequestered from family and media while Everett Hofmeister Jr. faced a first degree murder trial. They stayed at a hotel, received censored mail, and limited contact through a bailiff. Home-sickness and loneliness dominated the experience.
