Idaho PUC grants Empire Lines temporary authority
The Idaho Public Utilities Commission assigns Empire Lines authority to haul passengers baggage express and U S Mail between Coeur d Alene and Eastport over the Canadian line replacing Greyhound Lines. The permit expires Oct 28 1971 with Greyhound to operate if Empire fails. Amalgamated Transit Union division 1055 denied intervention.

Three men were proposed as write in candidates for mayor Wednesday after withdrawn candidate Steve Bistline urged voters to back one of them against Mayor Floyd L. Gray. Chet Howell Jack Bopp and Jack Parker all declined, saying they were not interested or lacked time to serve.

Spade Barn Destroyed by Fire on Shinglemill Road
The Spade barn near Marco on Shinglemill Road in the Selle area was destroyed Thursday afternoon. Northside Fire Department helped keep the blaze from reaching a nearby residence as residents used a garden hose to wet the house. Fire started by a faulty electric heater in a shop area of the barn.
