Schweitzer area plans 240 lot subdivision and waste plant talks

Bonner County officials discuss a $22.9 million solid waste disposal complex for the Post Falls area to convert waste into power and serve five northern counties. The project would be EPA funded with operation possible by 1976. Also preliminary approval for a Pack River Pack subdivision at Schweitzer includes a planned sewage plant and 60 foot road rights of way.

Idaho school financing plan challenged in court

A Boise parent and two school districts filed a Fourth District Court suit alleging Idaho's system relies too heavily on local property taxes and creates inequities. They seek court time to allow restructuring to ensure equal educational opportunities and request tax regulation if a remedy isn’t timely.

Registration Deadline Nearing For City Elections

Voters must register by 9 p.m. Saturday to be eligible for the Tuesday November 2 municipal election in Bonner County. Sandpoint and Hope show tight mayoral and council races while Priest River has no contests. Mrs Hazel LaMoreaux and Mrs Edna Spearman seek Sandpoint seats against incumbents Bert Lines Robert Kalb and George Harper. Hope's mayoral candidates are Frank E Hallett and Dale Anglin with three-way council race.
