Sandpoint Adopts Record 6.8 Million Budget and Garbage Contract

Sandpoint City Council unanimously approved a record 6.8 million operating budget for 1977 78 and a garbage collection contract with Ray Trout of Newport Washington at about 6000 per month The meeting included a two hour executive session on personnel matters and a contentious sidewalk repair issue prompted by letters sent to property owners The council authorized 292 500 in county property tax requests down from 1976 and set residential rates at 2 inside city and 2 75 outside with 80 cent per business pick up The Water users fees ordinance received first reading and a Nov 14 council meeting was set to continue the matter
