Burglars Net $800 In Separate Thefts

Lions Killed and Hunted After Escape at Georgia Zoo
Four African lions were shot and killed after escaping a private 40 acre preserve near the Georgia Tennessee border. A fifth was wounded and returned to its cage while two female lions weighing 400 pounds each remain at large in the surrounding wooded mountains. Local authorities urged residents to stay indoors as a 12 deputy posse resumed the hunt at dawn. The owner said the lions were released when the cage doors were pried open with a crowbar and valued the animals at about $3,000.
