Insurance Carrier Named In Damage Claim By Brown Kin

A damage claim against the city by Gerald Brown's dependents has been turned over to the citys liability insurance carrier City Attorney Roger Hanlon said. The carrier will decide whether to pursue or defend the claim, with direct payment of 500000 to be considered not viable. The suit, on behalf of two minor children wards of Washington state and three others from Wolf Point, stems from Browns June death when he was struck by a truck near Colburn. The coroner ruled the death accidental. Police officer Paul Siem testified he attempted to place Brown in protective custody. Siem resigned after facing department harassment over the inquest. He also said his life was threatened.
