Idaho legislative auditor criticizes the Agriculture Department for excessive travel, improper spending, and weak supervision in an 88 page report. He cites 41 problem areas, including a $2097 waste on an unfinished project and an overrun for a booklet layout.
All city and county offices and local banks will be closed Monday for Columbus Day. The Post Office and other government agencies will also close, while most Sandpoint businesses like Pend Oreille Printers and the Daily Bee are expected to stay open.
Idaho Senator Mike Mitchell plans to reintroduce a comprehensive youth services bill after seeking professional input. The measure would set standards and funding for juvenile crime prevention and detention facilities, with possible removal of centralized state control to keep local services.
